 Forestville Academy/School News

After School Art Program:  Mrs. Padrick teaches this on-going art class for students 1^st-8^th grades on Wednesdays from 2:50-5:30 in room 15E.  Registration is $25 a week for materials & healthy snacks!  Forms are in offices or contact Mrs. Padrick at 823-8153 or debsilk@sonic.net.   This is supported by FOFSEF.

Move Over Mozart Piano Lessons:  Move Over Mozart is a piano learning program here at Forestville for all students and is held Thursdays after school.  Lessons start October 2^nd and run through May.  Cost is $30 per month, plus a once yearly fee of $17.  Get forms from teachers or at offices.  Contact Lynn Fleck at 824-0307. 

Raffle Tickets:  Please write your first and last name, your room # or homeroom teacher’s name, and your grade on raffle tickets you receive.  Thank you.

Emergency Packets:  Please return the papers in your emergency packets as soon as possible to your homeroom teacher. 

Curriculum Nights:  This Wednesday, Sept. 3^rd, grades K-2 will hold Curriculum night starting in the Multi at 6:00.  Parents will attend classrooms after announcements.

Curriculum night for grades 3-5 will NOT be this Thursday, Sept. 4^th  -  POSTPONED – NEW DATE TO BE DETERMINED ASAP

Congratulations Prize Winners:  Be kind, be safe, be responsible winners are:  3^rd none, 4^th Amber, Mrs. Blechel; 5^th Dom Martinez, Mrs. Pola Hoard; 6^th Michael, Mrs. Swanson; 7^th James, Mrs. Swanson; 8^th Richard Weiss, Ms. Aldridge. 

5-8^TH Band Info:   5/6 Bands start tomorrow, Wednesday, with this week being A Week, and next week B Week.  6^th Band is during 5^th period.  7/8 Band will begin at 7:50 in the morning on Tuesdays & Thursdays, starting next week.  For copy of schedules, go to either office. 

3-6^th Art GATE Classes:  Mrs. Swanson is teaching after-school GATE classes in ceramics and painting Thursdays 3:00-5:00 in room 10 for grades 3^rd-6^th.  6^th grade session starts this Thursday, Sept. 4^th-25^th, 5^th grade session Oct. 2^nd-23^rd, and 3/4^th grade session Oct. 30^th-Nov. 20^th.  Get forms from teachers, at either office, or through Mrs. Swanson.

3-8^th Magazine Sales:  Magazine sale starts this Friday, Sept. 5^th.  We will have an assembly at 2:15 in the Multi on Friday.

4-5^th Green Team Members:  Please make sure you have signed up in your classroom for Green Team BEFORE going to lunchroom.  Go to the front of the lunch line, if you are getting school lunch, so you can be ready for duties at dismissal time.  Identify yourself when you arrive in the lunchroom.

3-8^th CYO Basketball:  Registration for CYO Basketball League has started.  Get registration forms from your teacher or either office.  Deadline for $100 registration is Sept. 27^th. 

Washington DC Field Trip:  The Washington DC trip for 7^th & 8^th graders will be April 13-17, 2009.  If you are interested, please see Ms. Robertson or e-mail at rrobertson@forestvilleusd.org for information.  We only go every other year!

Phone Use:  There is no student phone use in the offices.  Students should use classroom phones for calls home.  For emergencies please go to office where Diane or Fran will call.

Visitor/Parent Volunteer badges:  All parent volunteers or visitors must check in at either office for badges.

Student Safety:  There is a “Zero Tolerance” policy for any teasing, bullying or harassing.  If anyone feels unsafe, we want to know about it through the school phone 887-2279 ext 123, or the Suggestion Box.  There are Bullying & Teasing Cards next to the Suggestion Box in the foyer of Main Office.  There are Requests to see the Vice-Principal Cards in the Academy Office.

Box Tops/ Soup Labels:  Don’t forget to collect all box tops and soup labels and have your child turn them into his/her classroom.  There will be pizza parties at the end of the year for the 2 classrooms with the most collected!!  More info will be coming home in the next couple weeks.

Cell Phone Collection:  Please keep all your old cell phones and turn them in when school starts in the fall to the Forestville School and Academy Offices.  We can get up to $50 for each phone!  Thank you!!  The cell phones need to be in working condition.
