The child has one intuitive aim: self development
I began my teaching career in Northern California in the 1980’s after a career as a Wildlife
Biologist. I taught Science and Math as well as coached Basketball in Mt. Shasta, CA.
I left Siskiyou County in 1993 to pursue an international career. For nearly 20 years I worked in
the Middle East, South America, and Asia where I taught science and math as well as being a
principal. I returned to California in 2013 and worked for the Santa Rosa City Schools as a
teacher and administrator.
My journey in education brought me to Forestville Academy in 2019 when I began teaching 7 th
and 8 th Grade Science. The following year the 6 th grade moved into our evolving middle
school, and I obtained FOSS science kits for the students. The FOSS system offered excellent
hands-on activities for our middle school students.
This year I will move to the 6-8th Grade Math Position. We will be using the CPM system
and It seems like I have gone full circle as I used a similar math program during my first year of
teaching. I look forward to the continued enhancement of the middle school as I enter my
4 th Year.
